What is Verkko?

Verkko is a group of closed community networks for premier B-Schools of India. Each college has a closed user group for its alumni where they can stay in touch with each other, share information and view jobs as well as bulk deals posted specially keeping their needs in mind. Verkko is neither the official alumni website of any college nor does it have any affiliations with any college. It's an effort to bring together like minded people, who have similar needs, on one platform. It's an initiative to serve the premier B-School Alumni who have reached the top by sheer hard work, passion and ambition and because of which, they deserve something special -- exclusive services that are just as special as they are.

How can it help me?

Verkko allows you to network with the alumni of your college. It also brings you the best jobs available in the market directly to your inbox, filtered according to your wishes/sector. Being IIM graduates ourselves, we understand and appreciate the aspirations of alumni of premier B-Schools and hence, we ensure that only best jobs reach to you - jobs which are never advertised on open forums/websites, jobs which hire primarily through references and jobs which can take you to the next quantum of your career.

Verkko also tries to get you "bulk deals". Remember, the first year of your MBA course when everybody was buying laptops. People bought laptops for half their market price - only because they had volumes playing for them. We are bringing that concept back in the form of bulk deals.

Additionally, it is the only platform where you can interact, away from unwanted glares, with fellow B-School alumni. Searching for that elusive room mate in Bangalore or a car-pool partner in Mumbai or a potential partner for your startup plans - reaching them is going to be really easy now.

Whats the need for yet another social networking site?

Verkko is NOT a social network. We call it a value network. Though it has all the features that other popular social networks have, Verkko's real value proposition lies in the fact that it has a dedicated team working offline to bring the best jobs and deals for you. Unlike other networking sites, Verkko is a closed community portal where outside world cannot see the activities going on inside the group. Moreover, no social network guarantees you 100% authentic candidates. At Verkko, each new application to join in carefully scrutinized and verified through online and offline channels. It's not an open network and only genuine candidates get to access the privileges that are available on the site.

Is it a pan mba institute alumni network? Can people from other colleges contact me? Is my private data safe?

Verkko is a group of closed group communities for the alumni of premier B-Schools of India. No outside entity can access the information available. Persons who are not a part of the network cannot contact the group members through the site. Verkko will never trade personal information available on the site for monetary gains. We never allow companies or consultants to go through profiles of people. They can only post jobs and view the resumes of interested candidates who have expressed interest in the vacancy.

Can I post jobs/events to other college networks?

No, being a closed user group, users can post jobs/event notifications only in their college network. In case users want to post something special, they can, however, send a mail to the moderators who can consider such requests on a case to case basis.

Who are we?

Team Verkko has drawn people from diverse backgrounds - an IIM grad who got kicked out of his first job in financial services because he was found day-dreaming about startups a little too much, a technology geek who shut down his services firm and gave up running contracts to focus on delivering a product elephant, an internet wizard who is considered to be an authority on Lucene Search Engine (Google it to find out more ;)) and made his bones at the biggest job search site in India and another IIM grad who lost money for the investors in his first entrepreneurial attempt and who now sits on the other side of table doing venture capital!
